about

BROKEN TALENT was the first thing resembling a real band I was ever in. On a good night we were a shambolic mess that sounded like it would fall apart, but didn't. On a bad night we'd just fall apart. This was recorded on a good afternoon at a CBGB matinee. I lent the original tape to Greg Clayton (aka RAWHEAD) soon after it was recorded. Greg, being the young punk rocker he was, promptly lost it. It remained lost for over 25 years until Greg found 3 songs from it he'd put on a mix tape. Being an honorable fellow, he sent me a copy of said mix and now here's a song from it.

This recording is pretty cool because I'm told this was the very version that ANTiSEEN used as a template when they stole the song from us. They did such a good job that I stole their arrangement, and it has been a fixture of my solo acoustic shows for many a year. (I think this sort of transaction is an example of "honour among thieves" (if you're a REAL fan of ANTiSEEN you know exactly what I'm sayin')). Greg Clayton of course later became drummer for ANTiSEEN and later still, I somehow was their bass player.

In the "where are they now" department, Marky Awesome morphed into Mark Feehan and played guitar for Harry Pussy. Now he's based in Philadelphia and specializes in intense solo electric guitar weirdness. Our drummer Shayne created a hilarious online cartoon called "Funeral Home Confidential". If anyone knows the whereabouts of our original drummer Cat, please get in touch. Santo is a podiatrist.
