My friend Joe Snow tells the story best:

"My 7 year old daughter Aurelia and I were listening to a Stereolab record when Aurelia turned to me and said "Did they just say Cone Toes?" She had misheard the lyric, which I thought was funny, so I replied "No, but what a great band name that would be!"

This started Aurelia thinking about being in a band and she finally asked if we could start a band and name it The Cone Toes. I said "of course we can!" We could write a song together and then if we wanted maybe we could go into the recording studio and make a proper recording of it, just the way a band would do it if they we making a record.

So we wrote a song together called "Are You Ready To Rock With The Cone Toes" and we went into my buddy Tom "Bonehead" Boudreau's studio in Cheshire, CT to make our recording debut. We enlisted Sarah Hamilton to play keyboards, Mickey Blurr to play guitar, Tom "Bonehead" Boudreau to play lead guitar, Rick Hendricks to play drums, and Malcolm Tent to play bass. Aurelia sang, and I played rhythm guitar. We had such a blast. Aurelia totally kicked butt and performed like a rockstar."
